ILEC, in collaboration with National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM), has conducted the 2nd TWAP Lake Group Meeting ? Expert Seminar and Expert Group Meeting – in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, focusing on South East Asia and East Asia. The Seminar (July 8-9, 2013) discussed a variety of issues and challenges that transbounday lakes / reservoirs /rivers are facing, also in relation to climate change, with approximately 70 experts and government officials attending from Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, India, USA, and Japan. The Expert Group Meeting (July 10-11, 2013) featured technical issues in TWAP assessment, including indicators’ meanings and methodologies for their multi-criteria analysis. TWAP-FSP is a Global Environment Facility (GEF) – funded project to make a global assessment of five waterbodies (rivers, lakes, groundwaters, large marine ecosystems and open oceans. The project is implemented by UNEP and ILEC is responsible for its lake component.
