GEF-Transboundary Waters Assessment Programme (TWAP) completed its two-year assessment activities. ILEC organized a technical meeting at its office and Shiga University to synthesize assessment results of transboundary lake basins into a final report (May 8-13, 2015).
East Africa Expert Meeting (Kenya)
On March 3-5, 2015, ILEC organized the East Africa Expert Meeting in Nakuru in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources, Kenyan and the County Government of Nakuru.
The day before the meeting, ILEC had a chance to make a courtesy visit to Deputy Governor Joseph Rutto. The Deputy Governor expressed his wishes to provide necessary support to the ILEC’s activities to ensure sustainable management of Lake Nakuru which is the symbolic natural site in the county.
At the meeting, the participants discussed the challenges of lakes in the nation, the
Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and the Integrated Lake Basin Management (ILBM), and the Ecosystem Service Shared Value Assessment (ES-SVA) survey proposed by ILEC.
