The ambassadors visited the Shiga Prefectural Fisheries Experiment Station in Hikone-city to learn about Lake Biwa’s fishing industry.
They listened to a talk about Lake Biwa’s fish products and catch, and observed water quality and radar measurements on a research ship.
After that, they moved to the Kohoku Wild-Bird Center / Biwako Waterfowl & Wetland Center to listen to a talk about wild birds and wetlands registered under the Ramsar Convention, and watched the wild birds and plants through binoculars.
Furthermore, they pickled “funazushi”, fermented crucian carp sushi. This “funazushi” will be fermented for half a year, and served to their families and the Vice Governor of Shiga Prefecture.
