4. Name of Target Lake/Lake Information: The basic information of the lake.

The biggest lake in Japan, which is called Lake Biwa and is in the Shiga prefecture. Previously, the lake was polluted by chemicals from soap that people were using. A lot of phytoplankton were born and covered the entire surface of water. It causes less air goes into the water which means a lot of fish are in danger.

 

5. Purpose of the Activity: Specific goals and objectives.

The goal for our project is to protect both the environment in terms of reducing microplastics in the water and water quality of its lake.

 

6. Activity Description: e.g., water quality testing, monitoring, cleanup efforts, environmental education.

Holding events, a competition that anyone can join to grow loofah in order to generate enough of them to make loofah sponge for the prefecture.

 

7. Number of Participants: The number of youth involved

More than 300 people gathered at our booth at Hashtag Marshe and had 40 groups of participants for the competition. Now we have secured 15 groups, 31 participants, at the first meeting towards the competition.

 

8. Outcomes and Impact: Data or reports obtained as a result of the activity

Still in progress of making change to the environment. We planted 20 loofah two days ago at the first meeting.
