This 20th World Lake Conference will be held in Oceania for the very first time, as previous conferences have been hosted in four other continents.

The winding Brisbane River, known as the “Brown Snake,” is undergoing efforts to turn its waters blue in anticipation of the sustainable and carbon-neutral Olympics in 2032. This conference will address the connectivity between rivers and lakes, integrated approaches to land and water management, and challenges in subtropical and tropical regions.

Brisbane enjoys a mild average temperature of 20°C even in July, which is winter in Australia. We look forward to seeing you at WLC20!
